You are expected to attend all lecture and laboratory sessions. Attendance will be taken during each class period. You are expected to notify the instructor if you are absent. Twenty five (25) points will be deducted from your point total for each unexcused absence.
The best way to learn something is to actively participate in the subject. Learn to listen better, ask questions, interact with your fellow students and participate in group discussions. Poor participation includes talking out of turn, reading material in class not related to the topic being discussed, doing homework, and not actively participating in group discussions or lab exercises.
Introduction to the Human Body: The Essentials of Anatomy and Physiology, 6th Edition, by Gerald Tortora
Return to topWeekly out-of-class assignments include projects, lab reports, selected readings, etc. All assignments requiring writing must be typed, use proper grammar and be spelled correctly.
There will be a quiz nearly every week. Each quiz is worth 10-30 points. The midterm and final exams will each be worth 100 points. Test questions will be based on objectives covered in class or lab. Tests may include multiple choice, matching, true/false, short answer and/or essay type questions. There will also be two lab practicals, each worth 100 points.
You are permitted to have only 2 sharpened pencils and an eraser on the table next to you during an exam that uses a Scantron form.
During an exam that requires writing (lab practicals and quizzes) you may use only a pen. No scratch paper, notes, or calculators are permitted during any exam unless otherwise allowed by the instructor.
There are no make-ups for quizzes or exams. Late assignments will not be accepted.
Return to topYour final grade will be based on, assignments, quiz and exam scores, lab practicals, and participation. Assignments = 50 - 100 points. Quizzes = 100 - 200 points. Exams - Midterm + Final = 200 points. Lab Practicals = 200 points. Participation = 100 points. Total possible points = approximately 800. Grades: 800 - 720 = A; 719 - 640 = B; 639 - 560 = C; 559 - 480 = D;<479= F
Taking this course just for credit (no letter grade) is not available.
Return to topYou can earn 50 points of extra credit by completing a library research paper on a topic relating to human anatomy and physiology that is personally interesting to you.The paper must be typed, be a minimum of 6 pages (double-spaced, 1 inch margins, and 12 point type).
If you have any special requirements, such as needing extra time to take quizzes or a note-taker, please see the instructor. The Disabled Students Programs & Services can provide you with a Classroom and Test Accommodations Verification Form.
It is your responsibility to drop or withdraw from a course you longer attend. The instructor will not automatically drop you if you stop coming to class. If you do not drop the class before the deadline, April 11, you will receive an "F" as a final grade for the course.
TURN OFF YOUR PAGER/CELLULAR PHONE BEFORE THE CLASS PERIOD BEGINS!
No food or drink is permitted in the lab.
